Newcomers and Neighbors of OPRF offers many different types of events and activities throughout the year. From kid-focused playgroups to adults-only dinners to community service projects, there's something for everyone. Activities are scheduled based on member interest. We encourage members to volunteer ideas for new activities and events and to participate as much or as little as they like.

For the Grown-ups: Socialize

Book club, cooking classes, Bunco, craft nights, Ladies' Night Out, holiday cookie exchanges, bowling, an evening of wine and painting at the Oak Park Art League... these are just a few examples of the kid-free, evening events the Newcomers & Neighbors plan.

Check out the Events page to see what's coming up next!

We welcome mothers, fathers, and caregivers to our weekly playgroup, scheduled on Mondays from 9:30-12:00. In warm weather we meet at local parks, and in winter we meet at a church on the north side of Oak Park. Other playdates are often scheduled, such as library visits or meeting up at the gymnastics center or indoor playgrounds.

Check the Events page for playgroup and other kid-friendly event dates and locations!

For the Community: Philanthropy

We are dedicated to helping those in need, both within our membership and throughout our community.

Newcomers & Neighbors help one another by providing courtesy meals to fellow members who are going through an extraordinary time. This could be anything from adjusting to a new baby in the house, to moving, to illness or job loss.

In the larger community, we support organization such as West Suburban PADS, Parenthesis Family Center, Hephzibah, and Headstart by hosting volunteer events and soliciting donations that assist these groups.
